SHARPS
Sharps or hypodermic needles can disposed for free at the Hawthorne st. transfer station providing they are properly packaged. This means they must be in a red, hard plastic medical container or in another hard plastic container and duct taped shut. Acceptable containers are # 2 colored plastic, such as bleach bottles or detergent containers. An old coffee can taped shut will suffice. Anything that is sturdy enough to withstand being penetrated by the needle.
If you bring sharps and nothing else do not come across the scales. Park on the street and walk them in and give them to an employee with a green hard hat and an orange vest.
