The Humboldt Waste Management Authority (HWMA) is soliciting applications for the Positions of Materials Diversion Technician I (Full-Time) and Scale Attendant (Extra Help).
The Materials Diversion Technician I is the entry-level position for operations at the Hawthorne Street Transfer Station. Qualifications include knowledge of basic operation of hand tools, power equipment, and vehicles (or ability to learn this knowledge during probation), ability to perform extended periods of physical labor, excellent customer service and communication skills, and knowledge and ability to implement best safety practices.
This is a full-time, non-exempt position with excellent medical, dental, and vision benefits, state retirement, and paid time off for vacations, holidays, and sickness. Pay range for this position is $31,716 to $40,503 per year.
The Scale Attendant performs various cash handling and traffic management duties at the Hawthorne Street Transfer Station, for both the Tip Floor and Recycling Center Scalehouses. Qualifications include excellent customer service and communication skills, knowledge of computer operations and ability to train quickly on specialized waste management software, and cash handling experience.
This is an extra help position, with limited annual hours and scheduling based on Authority needs. Extra help employees receive sick time benefits. Pay for this position is $17.68 per hour.
